Clearly, many of these students aren't driving their dream cars, but then again, teenagers' vision of cool can shift quickly. As an auto reviewer and driving instructor, Jim MacPherson has had a prime seat at the confluence of teens and cars. MacPherson, who also is a spokesman for the Automobile Association of America, said he was driving a Scion xB for a review and brought the car to a driving class. This was 10 months before dealerships in and around Connecticut had the box-shaped buggy (the line debuted in 2004) and not many people had seen it.
