Others, such as Anne Finucane, CMO at Bank of America, argued that while marketing was at one time a "more welcoming" field for women, it no longer favors either gender. "I experienced a time in the mid '70s when it was harder for women to move up the management ladder," said Finucane, noting that women comprise more than half of BofA's officer and manager positions. The company's longstanding support of women—which dates to 1847—is the theme of a recent ad that notes three of its predecessor bank's founders were women and that the distaff set has been prioritized as customers ever since. "There have been many more women coming into the workforce over the last 20 years, and through sports [and other leadership roles], they've learned to become part of a team," said Finucane. "Younger women today don't give a thought to their gender identity in the workplace."
